Common questions
Can you work with our procurement and security review?
Yes, and we would rather do it early than discover a blocker late. We complete security questionnaires, sign a data processing agreement and an NDA before work starts, and answer architecture questions directly. To be clear on one point: BrainGenz does not currently hold ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, and we will say that in the first meeting rather than let it surface during review.
How do you handle audit trails and access control?
Role-based access enforced server-side rather than hidden in the interface, and append-only audit logging of who changed what and when. In regulated environments the audit trail is frequently the requirement the whole system is judged on, so it is designed in at the start - retrofitting it means reconstructing history you no longer have.
We have systems from the 1990s. Can you integrate?
Usually yes. Old systems are often better documented than recent ones and change far less, which makes them easier to build against than a startup's API that moves weekly. The real difficulty is rarely the technology - it is finding the person who understands the business rules encoded in it.
What happens if you become unavailable?
A fair question to ask a small firm, and the answer should be structural rather than reassuring. You own the code and the infrastructure configuration; we document as we go rather than at the end; and we will agree source code and credential escrow with a named agent if your procurement requires it. Nothing we build should require us to keep running.
